What need am I trying to please?

I am creating a collection of art for discerning collectors who frankly use it for speculating purposes. Hence, I create art that could be can be quickly transported to safety or to another country by mail or by packing it into a suitcase or purse. I support the Quebec pulp and paper industry by favoring art on paper.  I live in a city with a very important university and teaching system here as well as a clerical system so I keep the costs down and the value of the material up by favoring supplies coming from their supply inventory.

I am looking for beginning collectors who do not expect to buy a masterpiece first thing so my artist created to be useful from acquisition to display but also is created to have a life afterward: i.e. as intelligent gifts or that kind be filed easily for later use.

What kind of buyers am I looking for?

I am looking for buyers that will consciously increase the value of the art as soon as they buy it from purchase distribution. So I favor academic sizes instead of exhibition sizes which are the standard for art my collectors are beginning collectors who are looking for quality work at lower prices. My buyers use the art as a Frank source of speculation which means they are as valuable to possess us to distribute sagely.

Production Update Autumn 2020

Always, always, in my work, you see the presence of the great or the hero, or the giant. Still no sales.  I come face-to-face with the fact that I am rather lax in the ability to sell my work. Since I am barely capable of speaking this should actually be no surprise.

For this reason, I continue my work in filing classifying, and verifying my collection of art. One of the things I concentrate on standardizing my schedule for the week. This quarterly I’m going to be working in sections of two weeks instead of one-week schedules. I found last quarterly I was much more able to understand my workflow with the addition of my brand-new Timelines app. So, I see how to avoid multitasking which is something I couldn’t even conceive of before the Timelines app. Hence, I can indeed separate my workload into more concrete segments.

At the beginning of the quarterly, I’m going to mostly focus on catching up on my QuickBooks system and also declogging Facebook which is taking up too much space on my phone.

Business learning

I’ll be continuing my studies on LinkedIn Learning every second month. I find a learning experience on LinkedIn learning quite intensive so every other month I’ll rest from it. This will also give me a chance to catch up on my readings from other sources. It’s also a question of saving money.

Financial Update

Money is very tight right now. I’m concentrating on using the materials I already have instead of buying new stuff. I remember when I went to Atelier Frères Jerome simply used all my paints up before I bought new ones. That meant the colors I didn’t like were the ones I used in the end. So, at the end of my supply, I use a lot of yellow paint in my pictures. That’s what I’m going to do right now with my photographic and business supplies. Incidentally, I’ll also be using the drugstore even more rather than the beauty shop I’ve been frequenting. This hurts a lot. I’ll be shopping less at the contemporary store but still favoring the work of our downtown buyers instead of using thrift shops at least when it comes to clothes. For me invites to my sparse budget but it’s worth it because I don’t have to concentrate so much on the image representing the work is done. To me, that’s a wise business attitude. Right now, I’m functioning pretty much the red because I have to pay back the money I put down for bridgework. My Apple phone right now is a crucial part of my equipment and it is rather pricey. Considering my budget, it takes up quite a lot of room but I feel it’s essential at this time.

Coping with the Pandemic

We are right in the middle of a pandemic crisis and traveling is getting very difficult. Before if you want to do your errands, you could take a day for it and stop for lunch and continue so the whole thing is done as fast as possible. Now there are no seats to sit down even to rest so it’s a question of budgeting not only time not only money but the energy and this presents its own challenges. 

Time management

Things that I would do in one day take three for even a week to accomplish. It cuts into my time at work Because there are no seats to sit down in the shopping centers. Despite that last week I clocked in 46 hours on the Timelines app. Since the app doesn’t take into account that two tasks are running simultaneously adjusting the statistics I 40 hours. I use my time in spurts. Despite the fact that I try to use the Pomodoro method I find that my energy and my stamina run out and I have worked sometimes for two hours straight but often go to 18 minutes or 10 minutes or five minutes with Breaks in between. Working when I can that means evenings and early in the morning and sometimes when I can’t sleep. I still manage to clock 40 hours. I also work on the weekends for that reason which is a lack of energy sometimes. Taking short breaks when I’m tired seems to do the trick.

Wardrobe

I’m into power dressing or in other words dressing for success so my wardrobe takes up a lot of time in my workday. I try to make a schedule that mixes casual dress and a more elegant dress. I continue to buy all sorts of clothes with her for leisure time or work time that is suitable for someone who is a working woman. All my time is spent on trying to regulate the consistent condition of poverty

Jewelry Collection

I continue to organize my jewelry it’s still not easily accessible. At the same time,, I continue my work filming it and I’m working on streamlining an inventory system. The inventory system I make is of course at Hawk and for the most part free.

I use a website and to create posters and cards to distribute to people who get there all based on the jewelry theme. Specifically referring to my jewelry. I’m focusing on making jewelry sets. Which are the combining of different individual pieces of jewelry into cohesive sets that I can put on quite easily. So, for example, I might match and a necklace with a pair of earrings and something on my wrist like a watch or a bracelet and perhaps a ring and a pin. I work on different combinations of these. 

Given the fact that I seem to be a poor salesman, I am concentrating more on selling images of my jewelry rather than the jewelry itself. I feel this is an important distinction since I have no way of figuring out how much the jewels are worth.

Social network

I have an aptitude for creating and for filing and I am not strong on communicating and networking. So, I’m basically concentrating on getting a clear and concise journal report of the work I’m currently doing instead of writing people. I’ve had a lot to think about that as I know I have not achieved financial stability with all the work and all the reading I have done in the past years.

Projects

One of the projects that I am starting to work on is to find an interior designer to choose and install a desk, a bureau, and perhaps a better headrest for my bed.  I want the designer because I have bought some furniture in the past with a few major glitches. One is that they are not in the best condition and have to be patched with tape occasionally.  Another is that they require assembly and it is not stated before purchase that this will be the case.

I have been on the way fair site and have seen that the bureaus go from about $800.00 to $2,000.00.  I would like to keep the price under about $1000.00. 

I am going to try to schedule this project on my Friday afternoons which I am trying to leave open to devote some time to networking. So, I will combine the two projects.  Fright now I do not have the money but certainly, there is a good possibility it will come in the near future. Its always good to be prepared. I have not much luck in finding an interior designer who is interested in my project which is a humble one concerning a 99 square foot space in a woman’s residence.

It has occurred to me that I might be able to pay a certain sum of money a month for the use of this furniture with an option to buy.  This way I can save money, I hope. And I will not have the trouble of figuring out what to do with the furniture if something comes up.
